Cluj-Napoca is the largest city in the region of Transylvania, Romania and the second largest in the country. Located at the confluence of the Apuseni Mountains, the Someș plateau and the Transylvanian plain, Cluj-Napoca is the one of the most important academic, cultural, industrial and business centres in Romania. The city is a vibrant cultural and education centre, with the highest ratio of students to total number of residents, in Romania.
Babeș-Bolyai University (Universitatea Babeș-Bolyai/UBB) of Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, Romania has the oldest academic tradition in Romania and is today the largest university of the country with 22 faculties and a community of over 50,000 students. It offers bachelor's, master's, and PhD degrees, along with advanced postgraduate studies. Covering through its study programs all major science domains, UBB is probably the most complex multicultural European university with three official academic languages: Romanian, Hungarian and German (next to many other programs in other international languages).
